How successful do you think I could be selling a hodge-podge of small applications on my own website? I could set them up to be shareware type programs where you must pay after a certain number of days/uses…
I’m not looking to sell $50 applications, or make a living off this endeavor… just wondering how successful it could be.
There is a lot of software floating around, and so much of it is trash… I’m talking about good quality applications on this site… but no real "focus"… just a variety of utilities and tools.
I know the logistics to make this happen, but is it worth it?
there are a zillion professional looking shareware sites out there already – they probably won’t even find yours – you would need to spend money on a server and other things and probably never make a penny back

How do shareware programs create a time limit and how can it be bypassed?
The programs must leave someting on my computer that acts as a time stamp, but I’m not sure where it is or how to get rid of it.
If you have any knowledge in this area PLEASE help me! I’ve tried just about everything.
Thanks

what is the difference between shareware and free games
Free games are just that, completely free. Once you download you can enjoy it forever without having to pay anything. Shareware, though usually ‘free’ requires you to eventually pay to get full functionality (this is called registering). An unregistered shareware game might have missing levels, or may only let you get to a certain point before stopping the game and requiring you to pay in order to finish it.

Same with Photoshop, is it shareware or commercial software?
EXTRA POINTS GIVEN TO BEST ANSWER!!!
Shareware is a marketing method. It’s based on the principle of "try before you buy".
Companies such as Microsoft, Symantec, WinZIP, Ulead and countless others are offering free trial versions of the software. They may choose to call it a demo, trial version, free trial, free download or any other term they wish. But if the user can try before they buy, this is Shareware.

In other words if there is an evaluation version that you can download then MS Word is being marketed as shareware.

That will allow me to generate a tone that through speakers. At the same time I want to use a microphone to record the produced tone from the air. I am trying to determine if ambient environmental vibrations resonate when their frequencies are broadcast (being produced on the computer) and if they are, how will the alter the tone from its pristine generated state.
The question – Does anyone have any ideas of a program that can do all of this – produce and record at the same time? Any thoughts or experience on this idea?

What imaging backup software is easy to use, accurate if restoring to a new machine, and either shareware or freeware. I have used Imaging for Windows, and need a degree in rocket science. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!
No, it does not copy the boot sectors/partition. Its a file backup only.

It needs to be keyword searchable. I created it in WORKS, but obviously not everyone has that program. I would like to be able to import my current work…about 1700 records, with 6 fields in each record. The only search capability it needs to return is an "all records" search, using a keyword or phrase. It also needs to be easy to set up as I am not too proficient.
You can use http://www.openoffice.org which is free to everyone. It has a database program called Base. Check it out.

Hi … anyone know of a decent free shareware site for downloading music … all the "free" ones i have found want you to pay subscription. I found 1 free site but the songs were sung by dodgy cover artists.
Shareware means you try then pay. Freeware is free, you can often donate if you want.
Bands want to earn a living from their work and either get a contract or handle their music themselves.
Music is only given free if its either an unsigned band trying to get a fan base, or old back catalogue, or illegal.
If you’re going to download, check that you have Windows set to show file extensions. Don’t download music.mp3.exe for example; its not a music file.
And get decent anti trojan and anti virus software, and a firewall.
