Did you succeed in making 300-500 dollars/month from shareware programs?

The truth is, probably not. Shareware has kinda had it’s day. Most people looking for shareware are probably not looking for something they have to pay for. Open source is the way things are going now anyway. The best bet at making money in software right now is if either you put together a really good, really useful program and sell it as any other company would in a store or if you contract out to private firms and create custom apps. I would suggest the latter, as to create a really useful piece of software that is marketable could take a team of programmers a year or more to fully develop.

I am working with a disabled person who has trouble inserting and removing CDs from the computer. I need to be able to copy multiple entire CDROM images to hardfile and then use the images as if the discs were in the drive.

Ease of use and support is critical. Thanks for any suggestions.
Thanks very much for the good answers. Followup: Is Alcohol 54% (the free one) as good as 120% for this usage, and if so what’s different?

The first two answers are both good.

Daemon tools is a free utility that creates a virtual drive. The only problem is, if the software has copyrights it won’t play that disk properly.

Alcohol 120% WILL copy and playback copywritten software if used properly. There is however a grey area on if this is legal or not.

Update: Neither 52% or 120% are free but 52% is significantly cheaper. The main difference is that 120% can actually burn a copywritten disk and have that disk keep its copywrite so it will work properly. If you have no need to backup the disks than you probably don’t need 120%.

What are some programs that allow me to burn a video file to a DVD disk that can be played on normal DVD players? Im interested in anything by Adobe if there is one, but if not, what other programs (free or shareware) allow me to do this?

Also, can I combine two AVI files and turn them into one long video?
