What’s the best (smoothest) free (shareware, trial version, etc?) desktop recording program on the internet?
please list the sites where to get them, your own experience when using the application, the size of the application, and anything else you might consider relevant.

Power Record from Blaze Audio has a trial product you can download, just over 2 megs.

My experience with this product is I was mad that I had not discovered it before. It records everything from phone calls to internet streams. The tech support is great too. Its a small company, my one call to them was answered by the CEO.
Totally free is Audacity. It is a free open source program with many features not usually found on free software. I love the editor on this one the most. It is a 2.5 meg download available at:
