Lugaru: The Rabbit’s Foot (pronounced Loo-GAH-roo) is the first commercial video game created by Wolfire Games. It is a cross-platform, 3D action adventure game for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It features Turner, an anthropomorphic rabbit with curiously well-developed combat skills.

Lugaru was made almost solely by David Rosen, including the game engine, models, animations and story. It was one of the first independently-produced video games to employ ragdoll physics. It uses a new and fairly intuitive combat system, basing attacks and counters on timing and context rather than different key combinations.[3] It tended to be well-reviewed and was fairly well-received among the shareware community, especially among Mac users[4]. Tim Soret would later improve the games textures, and Wolfire currently sells this version as Lugaru HD.[5]

The name Lugaru is a phonetic spelling of “loup-garou”, which is French for werewolf. The word “Lugaru” is commonly pronounced as loogaroo.[6]

After the games success as part of the Humble Indie Bundle, on May 11, 2010 Wolfire released the source code of Ryan C. Gordon’s code branch of Lugaru under the GNU General Public License.

This is my playthrough of the game Shadow Warrior, created by 3D Realms. The game’s main character, Lo Wang, has to fight his way through Zilla’s forces, and eventually confront him at the end of the game.

Here I go and get every kill (save for some levels, which may be impossible) and every secret throughout the entire game.

Due to me recording on DOSBox, the CD Audio is not included in the recording, so I had to painstakingly put the CD music into the audio track for the video.

Here is the first of two parts for the Master Leep’s Temple level.

Presenting more goodies from the 1993 “GCW” shareware CD-ROM, including some AutoDesk .FLI animations (such as the video’s intro) — which is such an obsolete format that I had to dig up an ancient Windows 3.1 program to convert them into .AVI video format — as well as many spectacular raytraced images, which was the state of the art for 3-D imaging back then. Raytracing provides a photorealistic view of computer generated objects in space, but takes up a large amount of processing power to compute and render. Many of these images were created using AutoDesk 3D Studio and date from the late ’80s and early ’90s.

Musical accompaniment is provided from three Amiga .MOD songs: “Go-For-It,” a.k.a. CAMBOD.MOD (a cover of the Kim Wilde song “Cambodia”), “Let’s Swing It,” and “Electric Church,” featuring an unusual real sample of a Hammond B3 organ with Leslie!

Since it’s been 3 years since I joined YouTube today, I uploaded another video of Shadow Warrior, a first-person shooter done by 3D Realms in 1997. It uses Ken Silverman’s Build engine. In this game, you take the role of Lo Wang, a master ninja assassin. There were three expansion packs in development, but they were dropped because of disappointing sales compared to Duke Nukem 3D. The unreleased “Wanton Destruction” expansion pack has been published for free in 2005.
