Abuse is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Crack dot Com and and published by Electronic Arts in 1996. Even though the shareware version was released for MS-DOS, Linux and the Apple Macintosh, the retail version was available for MS-DOS only. However, since Crack dot Com released the source code and the shareware data as public domain around 1998, it is possible to compile Linux binaries from the sources.
One interesting thing is that the story is set in the near future, the year 2009. Even though we already have 2009, it was still far away when the game was done.

From a shareware compilation of mine. The framerate wasn’t too great and I could not find a way to strafe. You pick up items with the enter key. This game looks like it was made using the Pie in the Sky software 3d GCS (Game Creation System). I used to own that program too but a friend lost the disks so long ago. Anyway, this game La Cosa Nostra is a mobster themed FPS game with the first episode as shareware, registered users get the second episode sent to them. I really know very little else about it. The Second level of the game (which I was too lazy to get to because I didn’t feel like putting any effort into getting to) features the Terminator movie theme for some reason… suggesting this game probably just uses midi music gathered from around the 1994 net.
NEW FEATURE: Download the Shareware!

Tyrian is an arcade-style vertical scrolling shooter developed by Eclipse Productions and published by Epic MegaGames in 1995. It was a departure from the prevalent “serious” style of shooters, due to the cartoon-like artwork and the abundance of silly (or at least strange) dialogue and content.
The game was officially released as freeware in 2004, and the graphics have been made available under an open license in April 2007.

SimCity 2000 is a popular city building simulation game done by Maxis in 1993. This game got everything what Will Wright originally planned for it’s prequel, SimCity, but couldn’t because computers weren’t sophisticated enough. It has been first released for Apple Macintosh and PC MS-DOS, and later ported to several platforms like Commodore Amiga, Microsoft Windows, Super Nintendo, Sega Saturn, IBM OS/2, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Windows Mobile, Game Boy Advance and PlayStation Portable.
There are also some subsequent releases like SimHealth, SimCopter and Streets of SimCity, which base on cities built in SimCity 2000. Even though they never achieved great popularity, they enabled the possibility to drive or fly through the player’s own cities.

This is another video of Sam & Max Hit the Road, a graphical point-and-click adventure game done by LucasArts in 1993. It’s based on the Sam & Max comic book characters created by Steve Purcell. It is the first adventure game using the SCUMM engine that doesn’t use the classic control verbs interface. It was released for PC MS-DOS, Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows.
In 2002, LucasArts made an attempt to create a sequel in 3D, entitled Sam & Max Freelance Police, but this project was cancelled in 2004. After LucasArts’ license with Steve Purcell expired in 2005, the Sam & Max franchise moved to Telltale Games. Since then, they develop Sam & Max video games in episodes, the third season has been announced to be released in 2010.
In this video, you can see the German talkie version. You might want to turn on subtitles. It’s one of the few games that I finished in my childhood. In this version, Max has been voiced by Sandra Schwittau, who also provides the German voice of Bart Simpson.
