Let’s Play Powball (MS-DOS) – Part 3

Re-upload of my LP of Powball for MS-DOS, an arcade game (A variant of the classic breakout) made by Anthony Hamilton, originally released to the public as shareware on the 22nd of August 1996, and subsequently re-released by Spectrum Pacific Publishing and Webfoot Games on the the 3rd of June 1997.

In 5th of July 2000 Powball was released as Freeware; this means it is free to play and distribute at your leisure but the license agreements remain.

This classic actually runs under Windows, but without sound and music, so I’ve used DOSBox to play it (And record the video).

In order to run the game as smoothly as possible, I’ve had to set the CPU cycles to 9000 (Spare me from THAT overused reference).

Some parts were redone because I accidentally overwrited the save files (Quite a few times)…

Monster Bash (called Graveyard during development) is a side-scrolling platform video game developed and published by Apogee Software on 9 April 1993 for the MS-DOS PC. The game features 16-color EGA graphics and IMF AdLib compatible music. It was developed by Frank Maddin and Gerald Lindsly.

The game is divided in three episodes or parts. The first episode of the game is available to download under a shareware license, but the two remaining parts of the game must be purchased. The registered game also removes advertisements from the first episode and enables cheat code functionality.

Netstorm: Islands at War Intro (1997, Activision)

NetStorm: Islands At War is a real-time strategy PC game, developed by Titanic Entertainment and published by Activision in 1997. Although a single-player campaign and tutorial missions are included, Netstorm is chiefly designed for online play, allowing for games of up to eight players. NetStorm takes place in the world of Nimbus, a planet whose crust has been sent floating off in to the atmosphere by the never-ending battles between the three god-like beings called “The Furies”, representing Wind, Rain and Thunder. The people now live on small floating islands, each with its own high priest; their only link to their patron Fury. The islands battle each other in order to capture and sacrifice the priests of their enemies to their own Fury so they may gain knowledge and power.

Activision officially released the game as Freeware in 2003.

Obscure Classic DOS Games: Line Wars 2 (1990-1994, Safari Software)

Line Wars 2 is a classic space shooter Wing Commander/Tie Fighter type game by indie game developer Safari Software (who later went on to develop Highway Hunter and Tyrian). Line Wars 2 features 3 dimensional objects representing various spacecraft and objects in the game. You go mission by mission through the campaign story. In the shareware you can only perform 3 missions, from asteroid destruction to escorting a princess. The Music is on par with many Epic Megagames releases or Amiga game releases due to its use of Modular music. The game overall is pretty fun, though originally released in 1990, an enhanced version was put out in 1994 featuring high res graphics and other various enhancements (the version you’re seeing now). This game is actually still pretty fun now too.
